Youth in foster care, ages 14 and older

Young people in or formerly in foster care, ages 18 to 21, or 23 in some jurisdiction

Youth who left foster care through adoption or guardianship at age 16 or older

Youth “likely to age out of foster care” to receive assistance to participate in age appropriate and normative activities

Application

1. Request a tuition waiver letter: Contact your CYFD Youth Transition Specialist (YTS) or tribe and request a tuition waiver letter that verifies they were in CYFD or tribal custody. Eligible young people who currently do not have a YTS may call 505-695-6969 or email info.YouthServices@state.nm.us to request a letter. 2. Give the tuition waiver letter to the school: A copy of the letter must be given to the Admissions and Financial Aid Departments of the school you plan to attend. If you transfer to a different college, university, or trade school, you must submit a new tuition waiver letter to the new school you are attending.
